Ararat — visible from Yerevan, unreachable since 1921 — is a wound in collective Armenian memory. This portrait carries that weight without dramatising it. The subject stands with the authority of someone who knows exactly where he comes from, even when that place is no longer reachable.

The palette was built from deep wenge and zebrawood for the lower tonal register, with amboyna burl lifting the midtones to gold. The mountain was not depicted — it was implied through the bearing of the figure. The grain direction of every piece was chosen to reinforce vertical weight. Nothing disperses laterally in this composition.
